PORTRAITS IN PAUSE

I’ve learned that with portraits, a little direction goes a long way. I like keeping things candid, letting the person in front of the camera settle into themselves. You can always tell when someone feels awkward, so I give them space to move, pause, or express whatever feels natural. That’s when the real moments appear - the ones that show their actual emotions, not the ones they think they’re supposed to show.

It’s why I’m so drawn to portraiture. Every photo holds a hundred different stories, but the person in the frame is the only one who truly knows what they were feeling. I love being able to capture that, and I’m eager to keep exploring this side of photography.
